We turn to one of our recent remodeling clients, Chuck and Cheri Grothaus for this month’s post! We’re thrilled with the results on this makeover.
We hired Roberts’ Residential because we felt an immediate connection with their design ideas and ability to customize our remodel in ways no other contractors could.
We live in a circa-1977 rambler on the shores of Long Lake in Apple Valley. And while our backyard had a great cabin vibe (woods, water, three-season porch, patio, privacy) we had no real view of the yard and lake from our kitchen. The interior of the house was dark even on the brightest of days, and the kitchen definitely needed an update.
From the moment John walked in and saw our home and lot he said, “We need to bring the backyard ‘in’ to the home.” His design included removing several walls in the home to create an open floor plan, adding an 11-foot window to give us a view of the back yard, and adding a 36-inch full view door to the back deck. He also suggested creating a large island in the kitchen, which is now the hub of our home. We added a few things to our project list including new hardwood floors throughout, re-doing the ceiling texture, new three-panel doors everywhere, and a new front door for good measure.
The demo and remodel process ran like a Swiss watch. Our project manager (Chris) kept us well-informed with status call check-ins every Friday. And the contractors – from demo to finishing – were all excellent craftsmen who took time to explain what they were doing, cleaned up each day since we continued to live in the home during the process, and made sure every to-do item was completed to our satisfaction.
Our “little” kitchen reno that evolved into a major first floor remodel was completed on time and to our delight. We felt the team at Roberts’ gave us the design and custom details (from cabinets to drawer pulls to crown molding) that make our home unique and perfect for us today and well into the future.
